MORE TIPS
Check the cable tie at the bottom of the mesh bag and the four cable ties around the top ring periodically. Replace any cut or worn ties.
Lower your Wobbly Pot from the boat. Don’t tie it to the anchor or warp.
If your berley is packaged in a plastic bag, slit the bag before loading into the Wobbly Pot.
Load pellets into an onion bag or plastic mesh bag and place directly into your Wobbly Pot.
A small diameter lowering rope has less drag in the current. 6mm rope is popular as it is relatively easy on your hands when retrieving.
Lower your Wobbly Pot to the bottom and then lift it a couple of metres before tying it off. It will follow you if the boat swings on the wind and the fish will come too!
If you wish to set you Wobbly Pot on the bottom, tie a half hitch in the draw-cord close to the mesh bag to ensure it won’t drift open and let your berley float out.
When retrieving your Wobbly Pot before the berley has dispersed, lift it straight into a pail to avoid mess in your boat. Both sizes will fit in a 20 litre pail with the lid on.
Always retrieve your Wobbly Pot before driving off. Some prefer to tie a section of the lowering rope to the steering wheel as a reminder.
Save your left-over bait at the end of a trip. Cut into cubes and freeze it at home. Place it in your Wobbly Pot with a berley bomb next time you go out. The cubes will drift out with your berley and really get the fish worked up!
If you have a useful amount of berley left when you have finished fishing, leave it in the Wobbly Pot and drop the whole lot into your pail. Put the pail in the freezer at home and take it all back out next time. No smelly freezer and no waste!
Try using your Wobbly Pot to mark a spot where you have seen fish on the sounder – tie a buoy to the lowering line and drop it to the bottom. Use the buoy as a guide so that you can lay back into the fish when you anchor. Or use it as a spot marker for jigging. Your berley will help to hold the school while you get organized.
HAPPY FISHING!
